This position is pivotal in nurturing the skills and knowledge of our bakery staff, ensuring they uphold our esteemed standards of artisan bread making. The Bakery Trainer will be instrumental in developing comprehensive training programs, overseeing the learning progress of trainees, and ensuring the seamless integration of new techniques and standards into our daily operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Bakery Trainer will play a crucial role in maintaining the excellence and efficiency of our production line.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive training sessions for all new and existing bakery staff, focusing on our specific baking techniques, recipes, and the use of baking equipment.
- Monitor and log trainees' progress, providing constructive feedback and additional support as needed to ensure they meet our high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Work closely with the management team to develop and update training materials and procedures.
- Ensure all bakery operations comply with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the bakery production process as needed, demonstrating best practices in bread making.
- Evaluate trainees' performance and readiness for promotion within the company.
- Works closely with Systems Director in developing and implementing the Proof Knowledge Base, which houses all instructional material from manuals, videos, and SOPs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in artisan bread making and bakery operations.
- Strong teaching and communication skills, with the ability to adapt training methods to different learning styles.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by the training schedule. Must work weekends and stay until successful hand-off to similarly qualified parties.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, quality, and safety.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards learning and development.
- Should have a mastery of Proof production workflows and prioritization
- Understands the production flow as well as the various deadlines surrounding existing and newly developed sales channels, organizing shifts and allocating resources accordingly
- Demonstrates proactive, frequent, and transparent communication with colleagues and leaders
- Must attend and participate in regular Baker/Lead meetings and team meetings
- Produce a valid ID and food manager certification
Compensation
- $17 per hour training wage plus credit card tips during the initial 2-month (40 working day) training period.
- Opportunity for promotion to $20 per hour plus credit card tips upon successful completion of the training period, contingent on being deemed a suitable fit for the company and demonstrating the acquisition of knowledge at a satisfactory rate.
Prerequisites and Requirements:
- Must be a trained Baker at Proof
- Must have at least 6 months of production level baking experience
- Should have a mastery of Proof production workflows and prioritization
- Understands the production flow as well as the various deadlines surrounding existing and newly developed sales channels, organizing shifts and allocating resources accordingly
- Demonstrates proactive, frequent, and transparent communication with colleagues and leaders
- Must attend and participate in regular Baker/Lead meetings and team meetings

Key Performance Indicators:
- Trainee Progression Rate: Percentage of trainees meeting predefined competency milestones by the end of the training period.
- Training Program Satisfaction: Feedback scores from trainees on the relevance, quality, and delivery of the training content.
- Post-Training Performance Improvement: Improvement in production efficiency and product quality from trainees after completing the training program.
- Error Reduction Rate: Decrease in production errors or quality issues attributed to newly trained staff.
- Training Completion Rate: Percentage of trainees who successfully complete the training program within the designated timeframe.
- Adherence to Safety Standards: Number of safety incidents involving newly trained staff, aiming for zero incidents.
- Retention Rate of Trained Employees: Percentage of trainees who remain with the company for a specified period after completing the training.
- Efficiency in Training Delivery: Time and resources spent on training sessions compared to planned budgets, aiming for optimal resource use.
- Innovation and Improvement Suggestions: Number of viable process or product improvement suggestions coming from newly trained staff, indicating engagement and understanding of the training content.
